After nearly 40 years in the music/entertainment industry, I have become certain of one thing.
The more things change, the more they stay the same..
My first public performances as a teenager were simple. Voice and guitar.
Across the next 4 decades, I experimented with every possible combination of bands, lights, smoke and mirrors, and multimedia presentations.. Throughout, there was always one consistent constructive criticism from a broad age range.
‘We can’t hear the words’
From singing and playing around a fire in Stock Camps, to busking on the streets of London, Barcelona, and a multitude of smaller regional cities, I performed and observed the appeal that artist and instrument hold for an incredibly diverse group of listeners.
‘Songs and Stories’ is not so much a return to roots, as an acknowledgement of the enduring appeal solo performance holds.
It helps that the last 40 years have been filled with enough highs and lows to sink a battleship. Sharing those experiences and conclusions identifies that we all walk a similar path through life, and although the circumstances each and every one of us experience will vary wildly, the basic tenets remain.. Love, Health, and Sense of Purpose are the essential ingredients of Happiness. I look forward to sharing an evening with you at The Great Western on the 8th of June.
